The American Fatwa Council is a dedicated department under AMAN, established to provide reliable and accessible Islamic legal guidance on contemporary religious, social, and domestic issues faced by Muslims living in the United States. Grounded in the scholarly tradition of Sunni Sufi thought, the Council aims to make Islamic rulings understandable, practical, and relevant within the American context, using the tools of modern communication to reach all corners of the community.

Objective

To offer timely, authentic, and accessible Islamic legal guidance (fatwas) on pressing matters of faith, family, society, and daily life, through digital platforms and direct consultation.

Core Functions

Fatwa Services: Provide individual fatwa responses through a dedicated website, email, social media, and phone consultations.
Scholarly Panel: Maintain a team of qualified and spiritually rooted scholars who offer clarity on complex fiqh (jurisprudential) matters.
Educational Content: Develop and disseminate clear and well-researched Islamic rulings in English and Urdu that resonate with the lived experiences of American Muslims.
